Selection of Premium Materials
Our process begins with the careful selection of high-quality leathers, including calf, goat, crocodile, lizard, and ostrich. Each leather piece is meticulously inspected for any imperfections, ensuring only the finest materials are used in our bags.
Precision in Leather Cutting
Once the leather passes our rigorous inspection, it is cut into precise pieces following the pattern of the specific bag design. This precision cutting is essential to maintain the aesthetic and functional integrity of our bags.
The Art of Saddle Stitching
We employ the traditional saddle stitching method, using a durable linen thread. This technique, perfected over centuries, involves diagonal stitches that ensure if one stitch frays, the others remain intact, maintaining the bag’s durability.
Seam Sealing for Endurance
Post-stitching, we meticulously seal the seams. This involves hammering to even out the seams and applying beeswax, creating a uniform and resistant finish, adding to the bag’s longevity and elegance.
Crafting the Handles
The creation of handles, especially for our iconic Birkin and Kelly bags, is a delicate process. It involves precise alignment and stitching of multiple leather strips, using our saddle stitching technique, ensuring strong and aesthetically pleasing handles.
Pearling – The Hardware Application
Our hardware application, known as ‘pearling,’ is a critical process. We embed brass hardware, plated with precious metals like gold or palladium, into the leather, using specialized tools to create a secure and luxurious finish.
Rigorous Quality Control
Every bag undergoes three rigorous inspections to ensure it meets our high standards. This meticulous process includes checks at every stage – from the initial crafting in the workshop to the final examination in our logistics department. Bags that do not meet these standards are not sold, upholding our commitment to quality and exclusivity.
